ONE SPECIAL WORLD
We all have special needs.
Unique, United
Stronger Together
"The Strongest Force is the Power of Togetherness"
One Special World is a national organization aimed to de-stigmatize special needs. We operate on the foundation that we all have “special needs”-- needs that are unique and special to ourselves; needs that make us individuals-- regardless of whether we realize them or not. Our primary goal is to bring awareness to the different types of special needs that exist, whether they be social, emotional, developmental, or physical. These special needs do not alienate us, they make us human. By volunteering, educating and fundraising, we hope to do our part to celebrate our differences and include everyone in our One Special World.
Everyone has a special need–– what's yours?

About Us
Inspired by her brother Jonathan and cousin Jamie, who both have Fragile X Syndrome, Founder Danielle N. Preiser began One Special World, a national organization for special needs advocacy in 2009. Eight years later, it is now an up-and- running club at Kennedy High School in Bellmore, New York, a club at Binghamton University, and is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
All proceeds go to build a future group home, One Special World, for young male adults with developmental disabilities. Founder Danielle N. Preiser’s brother, Jonathan, will be one of the residents. One Special World will house 3-4 residents, a staff member, and a therapy dog. Our organization will cover the cost of the home and we will apply to the government for staffing, which may or may not be granted.
We work to de-stigmatize “special needs” through volunteerism-- primarily with individuals with developmental disabilities and adaptive athletes (not exclusively- open to all needs); peer education (on all intellectual, emotional, and developmental needs); and fundraisers.
One Special World began as an idea in 1999. It has since raised in excess of $40,000 for Fragile X Syndrome research, and approximately $40,000 towards the group home. This organization has grown significantly since 2009. As One Special World prides: "The Strongest Force is the Power of Togetherness." Together, unique yet united, our growth is exponential.
Taxes, amenities, activities and other costs will be equally divided amongst the residents with continuous fundraisers to mitigate the costs. Though this will be a residential home, residents will have daily activities-- such as DayHab, Respite Care, and Job Coaches-- outside of the home.
